Wednesday, March 11th
NJSIAA Group 3 State SemiFinal at Deptford:
Girls Basketball (27-3) lost to Neptune, 70-53
The Raiders fell behind, 40-14, at halftime and, although they rallied, could never seriously challenge the team ranked No. 1 in the state. Kelly Brady scored 16 points to finish her career with 1,158 points, 7th highest in OCHS history. Kelsey Boylan scored 12 points and Shannon Lane added 10.
Monday, March 9th
South Jersey Group 3 Championship at Southern:
Girls Basketball (27-2) defeated Manchester, 61-50
Meredith Schoyer had a double-double (16 points, 11 rebounds) and blocked 4 shots. Shannon Lane made 10 of 18 shots for a game-high 20 points, Kelsey Boylan added 16 points and Kelly Brady had 7 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists.
Saturday, March 7th
NJSIAA Group 3 Tournament:
Girls Basketball (26-2) defeated Deptford, 53-38
Kelly Brady had 16 points and 6 rebounds, Shannon Lane scored 15 points and grabbed 7 boards and Meredith Schoyer had 10 points and 5 rebounds. Kelsey Boylan made 3 steals and 6 assists and Sarah Gibbs had 4 assists.
Thursday, March 5th
NJSIAA Group 3 Tournament:
Girls Basketball (25-2) defeated Delsea, 46-26
Kelly Brady had 16 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Kelsey Boylan had 12 points and Sarah Gibbs had 7 points, 5 steals and 4 assists.
Saturday, February 28th
Cape-Atlantic League Championship Game at Stockton:
Girls Basketball (24-2) defeated Holy Spirit, 55-35
The Raiders won the overall CAL title for the third straight year. Kelly Brady had 17 points, Shannon Lane 15 and Kelsey Boylan 13. Sarah Gibbs had 8 assists.
Friday, February 27th
Wrestling (10-14) at Region 8 Meet (Absegami)
Coley O'Brien failed to make weight at 119 pounds and was disqualified.
Thursday, February 26th
Boys Basketball (8-18) lost to St. Augustine, 59-56
Matt Whitworth's 25-footer in the final seconds bounced off the rim. Tom Ballezzi had a career-high 17 points plus 5 assists. Whitworth scored 13 and Chris Curran added 12.
Tuesday, February 24th
Girls Basketball (23-2) defeated Hammonton, 59-25
Sarah Gibbs hit five three-pointers and scored 21 points as the Raiders completed an undefeated conference season. Kelly Brady added 16.
Wrestling (10-14) at Region 8 Meet (Absegami)
Anthony DeSantis (135) and Vince DeSantis (152) were both defeated in the region preliminaries.
Boys Basketball (8-17) lost to Hammonton, 58-56
Matt Whitworth scored 20 points, including a three-pointer with 20 seconds left (his 5th of the game) to tie the game. But OC fouled Hammonton's Xavier Warner and he made 2 free throws to win the game. Chris Curran added 15 points and eight rebounds.
Saturday, February 21st
Wrestling (10-14) finished 6th at District 32 Meet (Absegami)
Coley O'Brien won the district title at 119 pounds. Brothers Anthony and Vince DeSantis both finished third and advanced to the Region 8 tournament.
Boys Basketball (8-16) defeated Sacred Heart, 61-57
Chris Curran scored 19 points, Tyler Reich added 18 and Matt Whitworth scored 14. Whitworth set a new OCHS record for three-pointers in a season. The Raiders were 18 for 20 on the foul line, including 15 straight to end the game.
Friday, February 20th
Wrestling (10-14) at District 32 Meet (Absegami)
Coley O'Brien, Anthony DeSantis, Vince DeSantis and Matt Terry all advanced to the semifinals with victories.
Thursday, February 19th
Girls Basketball (22-2) defeated Egg Harbor Township, 56-44
Kelly Brady scored 18 points, Shannon Lane 15 and Kelsey Boylan added 13. Sarah Gibbs had four steals and six assists.
Boys Basketball (7-16) lost to Egg Harbor Township, 62-44
The Raiders dropped the second half of the girl-boy doubleheader when EHT rallied to a 41-20 advantage in the 2nd half. The Eagles made 12 of 18 three-point attempts. Matt Whitworth scored 13 points, Tom Ballezzi had 10 and Chris Curran grabbed 12 rebounds.
Tuesday, February 17th
Girls Basketball (21-2) defeated Mainland, 68-42
Kelly Brady scored 20 points, Shannon Lane 13 and Kelsey Boylan added 11.
NJSIAA Boys Public B Tournament:
Boys Swimming (8-4) lost to Moorestown, 106-64
Jason Marks won the 200 meter individual medley and Shawn Bryan won the 100 freestyle.
NJSIAA Girls Public B Tournament:
Girls Swimming (7-7) lost to Moorestown, 104-66
Kelly McCarthy won the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly and Merrill Anderson won the 500 freestyle.
Boys Basketball (7-15) defeated Mainland, 56-47
Chris Curran scored 20 points, including six free throws in the 4th quarter, and Matt Whitworth scored 17, including four from 3-point range. Tyler Reich added 6 rebounds, 4 blocked shots and 5 assists.
Monday, February 16th
Prime Events Shootout at Holy Spirit:
Girls Basketball (20-2) lost to St. John Vianney, 81-68
Kelly Brady & Meredith Schoyer each scored 17 points, Shannon Lane and Kelsey Boylan each scored 14. Lane added 10 assists and just missed a triple-double with nine rebounds. The loss to the No. 1 ranked team in New Jersey ended OC's 17-game win streak.
Saturday, February 14th
Prime Events Shootout at Holy Spirit:
Girls Basketball (20-1) defeated Christ The King NY, 55-52
Shannon Lane had 17 points and 9 rebounds, Sarah Gibbs scored 13 and Kelsey Boylan had 11 in the first-ever OCHS win over a nationally-ranked team. After the win, Ocean City was ranked No. 50 in the nation by ESPN.
Wrestling (9-14) defeated Winslow, 60-15
Wrestling (10-14) defeated St. Joseph, 51-15
Coley O'Brien won a pair of pins. Richard Dougherty, John Capito, Vince DeSantis and Bobby DeLuce all won twice on the mat.
Olympic-Cape Challenge at St. Augustine Prep:
Boys Basketball (6-15) lost to Pennsauken, 64-50
The Raiders fell behind by 23 points in the 1st quarter but rallied to within 4 points in the 3rd quarter. Tyler Reich had 17 points and Matt Whitworth 14.
Thursday, February 12th
Girls Basketball (19-1) defeated Atlantic City, 69-28
Kelly Brady scored 33 points and increased her career total to 1,001. The win clinched the American Conference title for the Raiders. Sarah Gibbs had 12 assists.
NJSIAA Boys Public B Tournament:
Boys Swimming (8-3) defeated Glassboro, 116-54
Jason Marks set a school record in the 200 meter individual medley (2:22.7), won the 100 breaststroke and swam on two winning relay teams.
NJSIAA Girls Public B Tournament:
Girls Swimming (7-6) defeated Cumberland, 116-54
Kelly McCarthy won the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly and Lee Styer finished first in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
Boys Basketball (6-14) lost to Atlantic City, 68-35
Matt Whitworth had 13 points and 7 rebounds. The Raiders played the game without Chris Curran, Connor Ortolf and Sean Feeney.
Tuesday, February 10th
Girls Basketball (18-1) defeated Absegami, 62-48
Kelly Brady had 18 points, Sarah Gibbs scored 15 with Shannon Lane and Meredith Schoyer each getting 10. The Raiders rallied with a 26-9 advantage in the second quarter.
Boys Basketball (6-13) lost to Absegami, 59-56
Matt Whitworth scored 24 points and Connor Ortolf added 10. Tyler Reich had 8 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks. The Raiders missed a shot with two seconds left then fouled Absegami.
Monday, February 9th
Wrestling (8-14) lost to Pennsauken, 60-17
Coley O'Brien and Anthony DeSantis won major decisions for the Raiders.
Saturday, February 7th
Future Stars at Mainland:
Girls Basketball (17-1) defeated Trenton Central, 51-41
Kelly Brady had 20 points and 10 rebounds, Shannon Lane had 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.
Indoor Track at Boston Indoor Games
Brett Johnson finished 7th in the high school mile against some of the finest runners in the nation. Former OCHS runner John Richardson was 6th in the professional mile.
Friday, February 6th
Girls Swimming (6-6) at CAL Diving (EHT)
OC's Carly Sheppard finished second behind Mainland's Carissa Santora, who won for the 4th straight year.
Wrestling (8-13) lost to Oakcrest, 52-22
Philip Faunce, Richard Dougherty and Derek Webber all registered pins for the Raiders.
Thursday, February 5th
Girls Basketball (16-1) defeated Vineland, 69-50
Kelly Brady scored 24 points, Shannon Lane had 14 and Meredith Schoyer 11.
Boys Swimming (7-3) at CAL Meet (ACHS)
Jason Marks finished first in the 100 breaststroke and joined Tyler Merrill, John Vogel and Shawn Bryan to win the 200 medley relay.
Girls Swimming (6-6) at CAL Meet (ACHS)
Kelly McCarthy finished 2nd in the 100 butterfly.
Boys Basketball (6-12) lost to Vineland, 38-33
OC rallied in the 4th quarter by forcing nine straight Vineland turnovers. Matt Whitworth had 12 points.
Wednesday, February 4th
Wrestling (8-12) defeated Vineland, 54-18
Dan Wilson, Blakely Faunce and Coley O'Brien started the match with consecutive pins and OCHS was in control all the way.
Tuesday, February 3rd
Girls Basketball (15-1) defeated Oakcrest, 61-37
Kelly Brady scored 21 points, moving her past 900 for her career, as the Raiders won their 12th straight. Abby Logan and Shannon Lane each added 12 points. OCHS led, 33-6, at the half.
Boys Basketball (6-11) defeated Oakcrest, 41-31
Junior Tyler Reich scored a career-high 16 points and blocked a career-high 6 shots as the Raiders snapped a 4-game losing streak. Chris Curran added 14 points and 8 rebounds. The loss eliminated Oakcrest from qualifying for the Group 4 Tournament.
Monday, February 2nd
Boys Swimming (7-3) defeated Atlantic City, 92-91
John Vogel and Shawn Bryan each won twice and were on two record-setting relay teams. They joined Tyler Merrill and Jason Marks to set OCHS records in the 200-meter medley relay and the 200-meter freestyle relay.
Girls Swimming (6-6) lost to Atlantic City, 98-88
Kelly McCarthy won the 100 butterfly and Carly Sheppard won the diving competition.
Wrestling (7-12) defeated Woodstown, 49-16
Bobby DeLuce, Kevin Loveless and Derek Webber notched consecutive pins to put OC on top for good.
