Girls BB (27-5) lost to Malcolm X. Shabazz, 56-38
The Raiders trailed Shabazz by just 20-19 at halftime but were outscored,
36-19, in the second half. Kelly Brady had 13 points and Nancy White added 11. White
finished her career with 1,092 points, 7th highest in OCHS history.

NJSIAA Group 3 State Semi-Final at Deptford:
Girls BB (27-4) defeated Neptune, 50-43
Kelly Brady scored 25 points on 10-for-15 shooting and made 4 steals.
Shannon Lane added 14 points with Amanda Landi getting 5 points and 9 rebounds.

South Jersey Group 3 Final at Southern Regional:
Girls BB (26-4) defeated Lower Cape May, 58-39
The Raiders won their first South Jersey title since 1979. Nancy White
had 20 points & 4 assists. Kelly Brady scored 16 and Shannon Lane added 10. Victoria
Wermuth scored 19 for Lower to finish with a school-record 1,333 points.

NJSIAA Group 3 Tournament:
Girls BB (25-4) defeated Seneca, 47-30
Kelly Brady scored 12 points and Shannon Lane grabbed 11 rebounds to
help the Raiders move into the South Jersey final for the 3rd straight year.
Wrestling (16-11) in Region 8 Tournament (Absegami)
Matt Graham (152) lost to Buena's Ryan Grusemeyer, 8-2, in the 1st round
of wrestlebacks, ending his season with a 25-13 record.

NJSIAA Group 3 Tournament:
Girls BB (24-4) defeated Woodrow Wilson, 88-37
Shannon Lane had 21 points and 11 rebounds. She scored 15 in the 1st
quarter as OC opened a 30-5 lead. Kelly Brady scored 17, Kelsey Boylan 12 and Meredith
Schoyer 10. Nancy White had 6 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. Wilson had eliminated the
Raiders from the tournament 3 straight years and 4 times overall and had won the South
Jersey title the last 3 years.
Tuesday, February 26th
Wrestling (16-11) in Region 8 Tournament (Absegami)
Matt Graham pinned Clayton's Tyler McCord in 1:52 to become the 1st OCHS
wrestler to advance to the second day of the regions since 2002. John McCardell also qualified
but was ill and unable to wrestle.
Saturday, February 23rd
CAL Championship at Richard Stockton College:
Girls BB (23-4) defeated Sacred Heart, 60-57
The Raiders won a 2nd straight overall Cape-Atlantic League championship.
OCHS tied Absegami for the American Conference title but got the opportunity to play when
Gami was unable to play because it would have given them too many games in the week. Shannon
Lane made two free throws and Sarah Gibbs one to give Ocean City a 3-point lead with
4 seconds left. After Ashley Durham made two from the line for Sacred Heart to cut it
to a single point, Lane found Kelly Brady at halfcourt with a long in-bounds pass that
led to the layup at the buzzer that sealed the win. Brady and Lane both double-doubled -
Brady getting 12 points & 12 rebounds, Lane 12 points & 10 boards. They also combined
for 7 assists. Nancy White, playing with an eye infection, fouled out with 6 points.
Durham scored 33 for the Lions, the 4th highest total in the game's 17-year history.
Wrestling (16-11) finished 7th in District 32 (Absegami)
John McCardell dropped an overtime decision to Absegami's John Harvey in
the 130-pound final and Matt Graham lost a 6-2 decision to Buena's Ryan Grusemeyer in the
152 final. Both advanced to the Region 8 Tournament.
Friday, February 22nd
Dedication of OCHS Gym to Dixie Howell
Though the scheduled game with Sacred Heart was cancelled because of bad
weather in Vineland, hundreds gathered in the gym for the dedication ceremony, including
Mrs. Doris Howell, Rick & Terry Howell and dozens of men who played their high school
basketball for Dixie Howell.
Wrestling (16-11) in District 32 Tournament (Absegami)
John McCardell (130), Vince DeSantis (140), Matt Graham (152) and Tim Graeber
(215) all advanced to the semifinals.

Girls BB (22-4) defeated Millville, 56-31
Kelly Brady had 13 points and Nancy White added 11 as the Raiders clinched
the co-championship of the American Conference.
Boys BB (8-16) lost to Millville, 75-58
Chris Curran had 16 points and 7 rebounds, Chris Harris scored 12 and
John Fogarty added 11. The loss was the 8th straight for the Raiders.
Sunday, February 17th
Indoor Track at NJSIAA State Group 3 Meet (Toms River)
Ryan Birchmeier won the State Group 3 championship in the 1600 meters in
4:21.02, the fastest time in the history of the Group 3 event. The old record was 4:22.03 by
Craig Forys of Colts Neck.

Girls BB (21-4) lost to Wildwood, 55-49 OT
Kelly Brady had 15 points, 12 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists. Shannon Lane

Nancy White scored 20 points, including the 1,000th of her career. She made 4 of

Kelly Brady, Nancy White and Shannon Lane each scored 10 points. Brady

Chris Curran had 13 points and 9 rebounds, Brett Johnson & John Fogarty each

Girls BB (17-3) defeated Absegami, 49-47
Kelly Brady took a pass from Sarah Gibbs and converted a 3-point play
with 10 seconds left for the win, which tied the two teams for the conference
lead. Brady had 18 points and 12 rebounds and Nancy White contributed 12 points and
6 assists, giving her 972 points and 303 assists in her four-year career.
Boys BB (8-11) lost to Absegami, 55-48
Gami rallied by a 32-21 margin in the second half. Chris Harris
scored 17 points, hitting 6 of 7 shots, and grabbed 7 rebounds.

The Raiders won their 4th straight using first period pins from
Dylan Siciensky (103) and John McCardell (135). Others who registered pins were
Anthony DeSantis, James Jackson, Matt Graham, Jon Baltz and Tim Graeber.

Wrestling (9-11) defeated Woodstown, 35-34
Wrestling (10-11) defeated Westampton Tech, 66-18
Wrestling (11-11) defeated Sacred Heart, 51-24
Vince DeSantis (140) and Peter Capito (160) both won three times on
the mat the quad. Each wrestler scored two pins and a decision. Siciensky, Anthony
DeSantis, John McCardell, Matt Graham and Tim Graeber also registered three victories.
Battle By The Bay at Atlantic City High School:
Girls BB (16-3) defeated Holy Spirit, 62-45
The Raiders jumped out a 20-8 lead and maintained control. Kelly Brady had
15 points, Shannon Lane had 12 points and 10 rebounds and No. 14 Nancy White scored 10.
Sarah Gibbs added 5 steals and 6 assists.
Thursday, January 31st
Girls BB (15-3) defeated Vineland, 84-36
After falling behind by nine early in the game, the Raiders rallied
for the win. Shannon Lane scored 15, Kelly Brady 13 and Amanda Landi and Liz Ker
12 each.
Boys BB (8-10) lost to Vineland, 55-42
The Raiders were eliminated from possible NJSIAA Tournament
qualification with the loss. John Fogarty and Chris Harris each scored 11, Chris
Curran grabbed 8 rebounds.

Girls BB (14-3) defeated Hammonton, 60-26
The Raiders clinched their 3rd straight division title with the win.
Nancy White had 15 points and 4 assists, Amanda Landi had 11 points and 7 rebounds.

The Raiders held the lead on the division-leading Devils in the final
minute of the 3rd quarter and were within 2 points with 3:30 left. Chris Harris had
13 points and 5 assists. John Fogarty contributed 5 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.
Monday, January 28th
Girls Swimming (5-4) defeated Atlantic City, 108-77
Senior Suzanne Mooney and junior Anna Ceniccola each won twice and were
both part of two winning relay teams. Individually, Mooney finished first in the 200 meter
individual medley and the 100 freestyle and Ceniccola won the 50 free and 100 backstroke.
Junior Carly Sheppard bettered the school record in the diving she had set 12 days earlier,
finishing with a score of 213.15.
Boys BB (8-8) defeated Lower Cape May, 52-46
Bud Johnson (18 points) and Chris Harris (15) sparked a rally at the start of
the third quarter that wiped out a 27-18 Lower lead at the half. Included among Harris'
contributions were two slam dunks. John Fogarty added 5 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.
The Raiders must now win one more to qualify in Group 3.
Boys Swimming (3-4) lost to Atlantic City, 113-73
Junior John Vogel won the 100-meter butterfly and the 100 backstroke.
Senior Pat Lavin finished 1st in the 200 individual medley.

Girls BB (13-3) defeated Highland, 64-19
The Raiders had two double-doubles - Nancy White had 13 points and 10 steals
and Amanda Landi had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Wrestling (7-10) lost to Willingboro, 39-33
Wrestling (8-10) defeated Holy Cross, 48-22
Anthony DeSantis (112) had a pair pins on the afternoon with Dylan Siciensky,
Matt Graham and John Baltz each winning twice.

Girls BB (12-3) defeated Lower Cape May, 53-47
Shannon Lane scored 17 points with Kelly Brady and Nancy White each
adding 10. The win put the Raiders in position to clinch the division title by beating
Hammonton on Tuesday night.
Boys BB (7-8) lost to Triton, 65-51
John Fogarty had 13 points and 5 rebounds for the Raiders, who had a
3-point lead midway through the 2nd quarter when Triton rolled off 21 unanswered
points. OCHS must now win two of three to qualify in Group 3.

Girls BB (11-3) defeated Oakcrest, 49-23
Kelly Brady had 15 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Shannon
Lane added 9 points.
Boys BB (7-7) defeated Oakcrest, 60-58
Bud Johnson's layup with 1.5 seconds left to complete a tremendous
comeback. Oakcrest led by 21 late in the first half. Matt Whitworth set school records
with four three-pointers in one quarter and five in one half to spark the second half
rally. Chris Harris scored 10 points in the final six minutes.
Girls Swimming (4-4) defeated Wildwood Catholic, 100-70
Suzanne Mooney (100 free) and Anna Ceniccola (50 free) each won an
individual event and were part of two relay victories.

Wrestling (5-9) lost to Pennsville, 46-19
Wrestling (6-9) defeated Triton, 45-28 (3rd Place)
The victory over Riverside was the 300th of Bill Nickles' coaching
career. Matt Graham (152) won by pin in all three matches. James Jackson (112),
Anthony DeSantis (119) and John McCardell (135) were also 3-0 on the day.

Girls BB (10-3) defeated Millville, 89-23
Nancy White led five double figure scorers with 19 points. Kelsey
Boylan added 16.
Boys BB (6-7) defeated Millville, 40-26
OC shot 47 percent and turned the ball over only 5 times while containing
Millville's deliberate offense. Bud Johnson had 12 points, 3 steals and 5 assists and
Brett Johnson scored 10.
Girls Swimming (3-4) at SJ Diving Meet (GT Tech)
Junior Carly Sheppard finished 4th with a score of 204.2.

Boys Swimming (3-3) lost to Vineland, 109-73
Senior Pat Lavin was a double winner, winning the 200 freestyle and the 100
butterfly. Junior John Vogel added a first place in the 100 backstroke and senior Clayton
Harper won the 100 breaststroke.
Girls Swimming (3-4) lost to Vineland, 118-68
Junior Carly Sheppard set a school record in the diving competition,
finishing with a score of 212.5. Senior Suzanne Mooney finished first in the 200 meter
individual medley and the 100 freestyle.

Girls BB (9-3) defeated Atlantic City, 56-42
Kelly Bray had 15 points and 10 rebounds, Nancy White had 14 points and
3 assists and Shannon Lane added 10 points and 9 rebounds.
Boys BB (5-7) lost to Atlantic City, 91-42
The Vikings outrebounded the Raiders, 40-21, and outscored them, 58-6,
in the paint leading a 62 percent shooting percentage. Bud Johnson had 11 points
for the Raiders.
Monday, January 14th
Boys Indoor Track
The sprint medley team won a state championship in the NJSIAA Indoor Group 3
Relays at the Jersey City Armory. And the effort provided the Raiders with a 10th place
finish in the team standings. The team of senior Tim Nickas, freshman Jayxon Chu, senior
Mike Coletta and senior Ryan Birchmeier covered the distance in 3 minutes, 44 seconds for
the gold medal.
Girls Indoor Track
The Raiders finished ninth in the NJSIAA Indoor Group 3 Relays at the Jersey
City Armory. Ocean City scored with a second place finish by the 4x55 hurdle relay team
senior Erica Adams, sophomore Danielle Tomasula, junior Justine Elardo and senior Stefani
Zabilowiz.
Saturday, January 12th
Girls BB (8-3) lost to Absegami, 56-39
Nancy White scored 16 points, Shannon Lane 10 and Kelly Brady scored 9
but the Raiders could not handle Tara Booker, who scored 30 for Gami. Ocean City had
won 28 straight American Conference games.
Boys BB (5-6) defeated Absegami, 63-60
The Raiders rallied from an 11-point first quarter deficit and led by 9
in the third quarter. John Fogarty had 20 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 assists.
Bud Johnson had 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Matt Whitworth added 10 points and
8 rebounds. And Chris Harris contributed 8 points and 6 rebounds. OC made 7 of 21
three-pointers while Gami was 0 for 12 from behind the arc.

Kelly Brady led OCHS with 12 points. The Raiders broke open a close
game with an 18-7 margin in the third quarter.

John Fogarty had 19 points, 6 steals and 4 assists. Matt Whitworth
added 11 and Chris Harris 10. Mainland made 54 percent of its shots to OC's 30
percent and outscored the Raiders, 34-15, in the paint.

John Vogel won the 200 freestyle and the backstroke and was
part of two winning relays.
Girls Swimming (3-3) vs Millville, 118-62
Suzanne Mooney won the individual medley and breaststroke and was
part of two winning relays.
Wrestling (2-6) lost to Absegami, 69-6
Pete Capito's pin at 160 provided OC's only points.

Nancy White had 13 points and 5 assists, Shannon Lane scored 12 and

Boys BB (4-5) defeated Egg Harbor Township, 57-54
Bud Johnson fed Chris Harris in the lane to start the game-winning three-point
play with 1.5 seconds left. Ocean City scored the final 11 points in the game. John Fogarty
had 17 points and 9 rebounds, Harris scored 14 and Bud Johnson had 12 points and 9 boards.
Transfer Matt Whitworth made his OCHS debut with 9 points.

Five Ocean City players scored in double figures, led by Kelly Brady's
15 points and 14 rebounds. Others were Kelsey Boylan (14), Shannon Lane (12),
Amanda Landi (12) and Nancy White (10).
Boys BB (3-4) lost to Vineland, 64-58
The Raiders let this one get away, wasting a 15-2 lead they built in
the first five minutes of the game. Bud Johnson had 16 points, Rich Screnci 11
and John Fogarty 10. Both teams shot well over 50 percent from the floor.

Boardwalk Basketball Classic at Wildwoods Convention Center:
Boys BB (3-3) lost to Archbishop Wood, 52-45
A 3-point play by John Fogarty halfway through the 4th quarter gave
OCHS the lead. But the Raiders were outscored by 9 down the stretch. Fogarty finished with
16 points. Bud Johnson had 7 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals.

The Raiders played an even 2nd half after falling behind by 14 at halftime.
Bud Johnson led OC scoring with 11. Ocean City shot just 23 percent from the floor.

Ocean City fell behind by 10 at halftime and got the lead to 2 points
in the 4th quarter before losing to undefeated Township. Amanda Landi had 11 points,

Boys BB (3-0) defeated Lower Cape May, 51-44
Bud Johnson paced three Raiders in double figures with 13 points and
added 4 steals. Brett Johnson had 12 points, 3 steals and 4 assists with Chris Harris
getting 11 points and 6 rebounds. Chris Curran had 8 points and 8 boards. OC trailed
by 4 midway through the 4th period but responded with 10 straight points, 4 of them
by Curran.
Girls BB (2-1) defeated Lower Cape May, 54-41
Amanda Landi scored 12 points with Sarah Gibbs and Kelly Brady each adding
11. OC took control of the game with an 18-10 third quarter.

Ocean City PBA Tipoff Weekend:
Boys BB (2-0) defeated Wildwood Catholic, 65-62
Bud Johnson had 16 points and 6 rebounds, John Fogarty added 13 points
and Chris Harris scored 10. Clark Hindelang had 25 points and 14 boards for WCHS.
Girls BB (1-1) lost to Trenton Catholic, 72-53
Shannon Lane had 19 points and 8 rebounds, hitting 4 three-pointers. Kelly
Brady and Nancy White each scored 13. White moved into the all-time Top 10 in career
scoring at OCHS with 769 points.

Friday, December 14th
Boys BB (1-0) defeated Oakcrest, 60-54
Chris Harris and Brett Johnson each scored 16 points with Harris also
grabbing seven rebounds. OC shot 50 percent from the field and had only six turnovers.
Girls Swimming (2-1) defeated Our Lady of Mercy,
Girls BB (1-0) defeated Oakcrest, 66-47
Kelly Brady paced the Raiders with 20 points, Nancy White added 14 and
Shannon Lane 11. The Raiders led, 23-7, after one quarter.
Tuesday, December 11th
Boys Swimming (2-0) defeated Hammonton, 118-52
John Vogel, Pat Lavin And Sean Bryan each win two individual events and
were part of a relay win. OCHS finished first in every event.
Monday, December 10th
Girls Swimming (1-1) lost to Holy Spirit, 117-66
Suzanne Mooney won the individual medley and Carly Sheppard won the diving.
Tuesday, December 4th
Boys Swimming (1-0) defeated Oakcrest, 101-85
Pat Lavin won the 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle.
Girls Swimming (1-0) defeated Oakcrest, 97-89
Kelly McCarthy won the 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle.
Wednesday, November 28th
Dr. Chris Lentz, once a successful girls basketball
coach at OCHS, was approved by unanimous vote of the Board of Education as athletics
director, succeeding Paul LeFever, who is retiring. The two will work together through
mid-December when LeFever will officially step down. Lentz will become Ocean City's 3rd
athletics director, following LeFever and Dixie Howell.
