2005-06 Winter CAL All Stars

Saturday, April 8th
ALL STAR SATURDAY AT OCEAN CITY HIGH SCHOOL:
Dave Beyel scored 5 points & Mike Wood had 6 rebounds, 4 steals & 5 assists as the American Conference beat the National, 87-76, in the Ocean City Home Bank Dixie Howell Memorial Classic.
Courtney Dougherty was part of the American team that defeated the Nationals, 68-51, in the Just Four Wheels Girls Classic. box scores
Monday, March 6th
NJSIAA SOUTH JERSEY GROUP 3 FINAL:
Girls Basketball (22-6) lost to Woodrow Wilson, 55-52
The Raiders fell behind to the defending state champs by 12 entering the 4th quarter but rallied to within three in the final minute. Nancy White scored 16 points & Michelle McKinley 15. Casey Beyel added 8 off the bench.
Saturday, March 4th
NJSIAA SOUTH JERSEY GROUP 3 SEMIFINAL:
Girls Basketball (22-5) defeated Pinelands, 44-24
The Raiders ran off to a 24-3 advantage by halftime and coasted from there. Nancy White scored 17 points & Michelle McKinley 10. Danielle Brady grabbed 11 rebounds. OCHS advanced to the South Jersey final for the 1st time in 16 years.
Thursday, March 2nd
NJSIAA SOUTH JERSEY GROUP 3 PLAYOFFS:
Girls Basketball (21-5) defeated Moorestown, 35-33
Michelle McKinley made two free throws with 3.7 seconds left for the comeback win. OC led early but Moorestown took the lead in the fourth quarter. McKinley led all scorers with 13 points. The Raiders were 9 for 10 on the foul line.
Tuesday, February 28th
NJSIAA GROUP 3 TOURNAMENT:
Boys BB (16-11) lost to Deptford, 64-48
The Raiders trailed by two at the half in Deptford but were outscored, 25-15, in the 3rd quarter. A.J. Harris led OCHS with 11 points, Dave Beyel adding 10.
NJSIAA REGION 8 TOURNAMENT AT ABSEGAMI:
Josh Hawn was pinned in the second period at 130 to end the Raiders season.
Saturday, February 25th
NJSIAA DISTRICT 32 TOURNAMENT AT ABSEGAMI:
Josh Hawn came up with a 4-0 decision in the consolation match to advance to the Region 8 Tournament.
Friday, February 24th
NJSIAA DISTRICT 32 TOURNAMENT AT ABSEGAMI:
Josh Hawn earned a first period pin at 130 pounds to advance to the semi-finals.
Thursday, February 23rd
Girls BB (20-5) defeated Highland, 36-30
Nancy White had 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals & 3 assists - all game highs. The win gave OCHS its third straight 20-win season.
Wednesday, February 22nd
Boys BB (16-10) defeated Toms River East, 63-60
The Raiders ended the regular season with a 5-game winning streak. Dave Beyel had 25 points with Pat Tolomeo adding 15 points & 7 assists. Miles Weatherill was in the starting lineup for the Raiders and got a standing ovation.
Tuesday, February 21st
NJSIAA SOUTH JERSEY PUBLIC B PLAYOFFS:
Girls Swimming (9-4) lost to Haddonfield, 92-78
Renee Tomlin swept the two freestyle sprints as the Raiders lost to Haddonfield in the final for the 2nd straight season.
Girls BB (19-5) defeated Oakcrest, 50-31
Michelle McKinley scored 16 & Nancy White added 13 as the Raiders completed an undefeated season in the division.
Boys BB (15-10) defeated Oakcrest, 48-45 OT
Dave Beyel scored his 1,000th point, included among his team-high 15. Mike Wood scored 10 with Brandt Heininger & Matt Kilroy coming off the bench for five each.
Sunday, February 19th
Girls BB (18-5) lost to Trenton Central, 52-36
Nancy White scored 10 points and Michelle McKinley added 9. The game was part of the Ventnor City Shootout.
Boys BB (14-10) defeated Paul VI, 75-69 OT
Dave Beyel, who had 27 points & grabbed 11 rebounds, scored at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. Pat Tolomeo scored a career-high 17 points.
NJSIAA INDOOR TRACK MEET OF CHAMPIONS:
John Oberg cleared 14 feet to finish first in the pole vault.
Saturday, February 18th
COCA-COLA NATIONAL HALL OF FAME CLASSIC:
Brittany Sedberry won the two-mile indoor race in the New York Armory in 10 minutes, 19.3 seconds. It was an all-time New Jersey record and the fastest in the nation during 2005-06.
Friday, February 17th
Girls BB (18-4) lost to Holy Spirit, 49-32
Nancy White scored 17 points but the Raiders shot only 9 for 53 from the field to end their 6-game win streak. The game was part of the Ventnor City Shootout.
NJSIAA SOUTH JERSEY PUBLIC B PLAYOFFS:
Girls Swimming (9-3) defeated Moorestown, 93-77
Renee Tomlin & Sam King were double winners again as the Raiders made it 8 straight and advanced to South Jersey final against Haddonfield.
Thursday, February 16th
Boys BB (13-10) defeated Holy Cross, 43-41
The Raiders scored the final 17 points to win. Mike Wood scored 17.
Wednesday, February 15th
NJSIAA SOUTH JERSEY PUBLIC B PLAYOFFS:
Girls Swimming (8-3) defeated Clearview, 127-43
Raiders won 7th straight and advanced to South Jersey semifinals. Renee Tomlin & Sam King each won twice.
Monday, February 13th
Boys BB (12-10) defeated Northern Burlington, 68-58
Dave Beyel led four double figure scorers with 20 points. There were 51 personal fouls called in the game.
Saturday, February 11th
Boys BB (11-10) lost to Camden Catholic, 51-40
Dave Beyel had 14 points for the Raiders in the Olympic-Cape Challenge at Timber Creek.
Wrestling (9-15) defeated Woodstown, 57-22
Wrestling (9-16) lost to Collingswood, 67-0
Jim Stewart, Charles LaRosa & Graham Ginn all registered pins in less than a minute in the tri-match at Woodstown.
Friday, February 10th
Girls BB (18-3) defeated Our Lady of Mercy, 50-34
Michelle McKinley had 19 points & 9 rebounds. Nancy White scored 11 points & had 4 assists. The game was part of the Future Stars Shootout at Mainland.
Thursday, February 9th
Boys BB (11-9) defeated Sacred Heart, 62-56
Mike Hinsley had a double-double with 15 points & 10 rebounds. Mike Wood just missed a triple-double with 19 points, 9 rebounds & 9 assists.
Cape-Atlantic League Individual Swim Championships
Renee Tomlin took a second in the girls 50-meter freestyle.
Tuesday, February 7th
Girls BB (17-3) defeated Lower Cape May, 44-35
OC led by 16 entering the 4th quarter. Nancy White had 8 points & 4 assists.
Boys BB (10-9) lost to Lower Cape May, 56-45
Mike Wood scored 14, Lionel Johnson added 10 & Mike Hinsley grabbed 15 rebounds. Lower's Charles Johnson broke his school's career scoring record, held by Charlie Wise, in the game. Dave Beyel returned to action briefly and scored 2 points.
Wrestling (8-15) lost to Buena, 68-6
A pin by Kevin Thomas provided the only points for OCHS.
Monday, February 6th
Girls BB (16-3) defeated Winslow Township, 45-28
Michelle McKinley scored 9 points as the Raiders opened a 26-9 halftime lead.
Wrestling (8-14) defeated Mainland, 40-28
John McCardell & Dean Layton had first period pins.
Saturday, February 4th
Boys BB (10-8) lost to Absegami, 61-53
Mike Wood scored 15 & Mike Davis added 12. Lionel Johnson tied a school record with 11 steals.
Wrestling (7-14) lost to Triton, 52-23
John McCardell, John Trout & Ryan Skellenger all had pins for OCHS.
Thursday, February 2nd
Coed Swimming (4-0) defeated Lower Cape May, 113-73
George Santer & Pat Lavin each won twice for the Raiders.
Girls BB (15-3) defeated Mainland, 51-48
The Raiders clinched the Division Two title as Michelle McKinley scored 19 points & sophomore Nancy White added 11.
Boys BB (10-7) defeated Mainland, 54-43
OC scored 11 straight points in the 4th quarter to take control. Mike Wood scored 14, Lionel Johnson 12 & Mike Wood 11.
